Are you a textile agent looking for inspiration for unique textile creations from rare & exquisite antique textiles?
I bought a specially-framed panel of exquisite metallic embroidery on silk brocade fabric – believed to have been Commissioned by Queen Anne (1702-1714).
In the back of the frame, I was delighted to discover a letter stating the history of the panel. It belonged to a wedding dress of Lucretia Marsh, the daughter of Francis Marsh (the Archbishop of Dublin) who was lady-in-waiting to Queen Anne and the grand-daughter of the sister to Queen Anne’s Mother. According to the collector of the archive of the Marsh family and, even The Earl of Clarendon, from which the daughter descended from, it’s a potentially valuable sample but, more importantly, it carries significant intrigue. I do wonder if the wedding dress is still around….
