In the current political climate, I thought what a great opportunity it is to talk about a style which became a massive hit in the 60s and 70s. With an influx of women moving into the professional workplace, this style became a wardrobe staple and empowered women’s fashion. Britain’s first female Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher was a self-confessed fan of the Pussy Bow and was reported as saying that bows were ‘softening and pretty’. This contrasted with fashion trends at the time of her leadership when most women were dressing to look more powerful. Maggie took a softer approach because she simply was the Iron Lady! The Pussy Bow style continues to be a favourite with famous women such as Michelle Obama, Samantha Cameron and Sara Danuis who is one of the minds behind the MeToo Movement. This proves how dynamic the Pussy Bow continues to be today.
